Our Fairtrade comp winners

We’ve been a bit tardy about letting you know the result of our Tate and Lyle Fairtrade comp but the wildly ingenious entry from Laurel Deegan who recreated the Fairtrade symbol out of Traidcraft muesli, FT demerara sugar, Bart's ground ginger and mixed spice [both FT] and FT bananas scoops the prize of a £30 John Lews Voucher. (Check out our Facebook wall to see it in all its glory)

Laurel was also in the running to win the second prize of the Divine Chocolate recipe book offered by regular contributor Verity Orme but I’ve arbitrarily decided that she can’t win TWO prizes and am awarding it to Gemma Summons for her baked banana bread (her depiction of which also has a touch of creative flair: a Fairtrade banana skin draped elegantly over the loaf ;-) (The recipe should also say, as Gemma points out, melted butter not melted mutter. Or nutter)

Well done both and I hope the comp will have inspired the rest of you to use more Fairtrde products in your cooking!
